Organic Upside aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA on every page. This is a small static site with one calculator on it, so the surface we are responsible for is narrow and we hold ourselves to a clear bar on it.

What we do

Type. The site sets its text in Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, a face the Braille Institute designed to keep letters apart from each other for readers with low vision. It is self hosted, so it loads with the page rather than waiting on a third party.

Keyboard. Every control is reachable and usable with a keyboard alone. A skip link is the first thing in the tab order. The current page in the main menu is marked with aria-current and is plain text rather than a link, so you are not offered a link to where you already are.

Motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, we honor it. Transitions and animations are switched off in the stylesheet, and the figure in the header stops counting up and simply shows the number.

Color. Color is never the only thing carrying meaning. The charts label their channels directly and repeat them with distinct dots, because four channel colors cannot all hold a 3:1 contrast ratio against each other. Print styles keep those dots.

Structure. Every page is semantic HTML with one h1 and a heading order that does not skip levels. The page language is declared. Form controls have real labels, and errors are written in plain English.

Measurement. Lighthouse scored the live site 100 for accessibility on both desktop and mobile when we last measured on 2026-09-07. We re-check after any change to the layout.

Known limits

The calculator needs JavaScript to be interactive. The default result is rendered into the page at build time, so you will see a complete worked example with no scripts running. Changing the inputs needs JavaScript.

The charts are visual. Each one has a text description and the same numbers appear in the tables underneath, so nothing is only available as a picture. They are still easier to read with sight.

We hold no third party audit. There is no VPAT and no external certification. The claims above are our own testing, which is a weaker guarantee than an independent review and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
